(7.10.2010)

So, what is the point of a band website these days? To inform the public of your goings-on, presumably. Well, we at Wesafari HQ are not very good at that. Embarassingly, our site has remained un-updated for 2.5 years. Not OK. We've done stuff in that time, really. We just didn't really tell anyone about it. But that is going to change. Here are some highlights:

1. A new full length record, tentatively entitled Sea Survivors is finished and mastered. We will, by hook or by crook, release this labor of love before the end of 2010. Format and stuff are yet to be determined. But vinyl would be nice, no?

2. We have a new, awesome drummer named Baine Craft. You may know him from his time with This is a Process of a Still Life and The Quiet Ones. Baine is also a member of the post-rock outfit Scriptures, which you should check out.

3. We also have new vocalist/percussionist. Trina Mills is an accomplished singer and dancer, having appeared in several musicals at the 5th Avenue Theater and elsewhere. She is now lending her talents to our rag-tag group of misfits. We are stoked to have her.

4. Wolf moved to Portland, and we miss him greatly. Still, we see him all the time, and he is quite happy and doing just fine down there in PDX.

5. We love to play music. This one isn't new, but we thought you should know.

6. This site will likely look quite different in a month or so. Casey is now a math teacher, which gives him two months to do stuff like this. In fact, he is updating this in the third person right now.

7. Nathan Hollifield has joined our team, specifically to do the things that managers do. If you want to offer us a deal, talk to Nathan. He'll know what to do.

That's it for now. Keep an eye out for Sea Survivors. And don't hold back with suggestions on how to improve this website. One Love, from Wes-a-far-eye. (We have a private joke that we are a reggae band, but we aren't. Just so you know.)

Kick back.

So I'm sitting here, much later than I would have liked to be writing this, finally kicking back at this cold thats been kicking me for the last week, enjoying a little recent kick-back from my job, looking forward to the kick-attack we're all gonna get this Saturday at the Vera Project.

Tucked away in the Northwest side of the Seattle Center this weekend, the Snoqualmie room will stir.  Sleepy Eyes of Death will catch you off guard and kick you in the pants, enshrouding you in a dark, dank mist.  One TWO! and you're spun around with a kick to the chest by Wesafari's sound blast. POP!! Its a kick to the FACE by Natalie Portman's Shaved Head!  The crowd goes wild and ya don't stop!

If you have any fight left in you, come show us your moves at the Vera Project this Saturday at this all-ages explosion.  Check SHOWS for details.

NEWS (09.12.2007)

Do you come for news or fun?

That show at Neumo's was fun.  this space is for news.  but can i have a little fun with it? i've been told the news and feeds are too much artsy stuff and not straight to the point enough.  i just try to give you your money's worth.  and keep you informed enough to help you help us become the biggest thing since Christo's intergalactic saftey pin.

But Grizzly Bear ruled the world that night, and we were stoked to be part of it.  thanks to all of you who were able to make it.

as for the future, I'm pleased to announce some upcoming activity in the wesafari realm.  I'll be making two solo appearences this month; one on an internet radio station, and one at a West Seattle cafe.

The radio show is Thursday, Sept 27 from 5 to 7PM on Hollow Earth, hosted by our great friend, Levi Fuller. You can tune in to listen no matter where in the world you are.  (East Coasters take note: thats 8pm in your world!)

The cafe show is at Skylark Cafe & Club on Sunday, September 30, also with Levi Fuller, and Andy McAllister. Thats a freebee for all ages, people, with food, drinks (with ID), and rarely heard acoustic versions of Wesafari songs old and new.

And we finally nailed down the details of the Vera Project show on Saturday October 13. Seattle teenage favs Natalie Portman's Shaved Head will be headlining this dancetastic all ages electro-fest!  You will sweat and love it. Check details on the SHOWS page.

NEWS (09.4.2007)

Wildlife on display.

things are moving along now for wesafari.  writing and rehearsing has been fun and productive.  and as promised, we'll be playing more shows now.

we're all really stoked about the show this Thursday, Sept 6, at Neumo's.  we'll be sharing the bill with Grizzly Bear and Deerhunter, two amazing bands that have been really inspiring for us recently.  you couldn't hope for a better grouping of bands.

that's all young lovers.  just note that both this week's show and the upcoming Vera Project show on October 13 are all ages shows, so there will be some inter-generational partay happening.  fear not, you can drink with ID at the Neumo's show, and the Vera show will blow the roof off like nobody's done since Minor Threat.

NEWS (08.21.2007)

Wesafari returns.

It’s been a while. Over a year.
Andy moved back east, to Pittsburgh. bittersweet. He’s happier there, but wesafari must adjust. We’ve been considering our options, searching for answers.

One came in the form of a new member. Erin Rubin.
You’ll find pictures and words relating to Erin on the bio page. She’s super. And her presence in wesafari brings freshness and color into what we play and how we play it.

Wolf and Casey and I have been slowly finishing up the now ancient EP, ‘Moss Green’. Andy did play on it and record it, for those wondering. I’m pleased to say that it is finally mastered and is available to download in its entirety here, as well as in hard copy, a limited pressing sold at shows.

Which brings me to that important info. Website. Shows. All new.
Welcome to our new website. Levi (Fuller) built it for us. If you don’t know him,
find out about him.
We played at Chop Suey on July 29th. It was fun and allowed us to work out some kinks. You’ll be able to quickly see upcoming show and tour dates on the ‘SHOWS’ link anytime you want now. We just confirmed a new show on Thurs, Sept 6 opening for Grizzly Bear at Neumo's in Seattle.  Hope you can make it!

Enjoy the site. –rick
